Principals News

Dear Parents and Families,

This term has again provided many highlights and proud moments for our KDSC school community.

Congratulations to Mia Shepherd for her acceptance into a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) program which will be held in Canberra over the Christmas School Holidays.  With the support of Rotary, Mia will forward details of how you can support her to fundraise for this event.  Congratulations also to Les Anwyl, who was successful in gaining the Peter Doherty award for STEM excellence in his work at our college and to Mandy Dewey who was awarded the Dr Robert (Uncle Bob) Anderson Award for her hard work and ongoing support of staff.

Thank you to the primary students who have been surveying their peers and drafting plans as a part of reviewing our opportunities for lunch time activities in light of the removal of our year 3-6 playground due to safety reasons.  Our P & C have just been advised that they were not successful with the recent grant application aimed at upgrading the playground equipment, however will reapply in the upcoming funding round.

Our upcoming P – 7 disco is once again aimed at fundraising for a project that Chappy Deb and Chappy Molly are leading which involves KDSC students in science classes making a light to improve the quality of life children in Papua New Guinea. This is a great example of how our learning has a real life application.

All the best to our year 12’s sitting their Queensland Core Skills Test this week.

Have a relaxing mid-semester break!
