At Kuranda District State College we believe a
high-quality rigorous Junior Secondary program is critical for ensuring that
students are provided the necessary knowledge and skills in order to be
successful in Year 11 & 12.
In Year 7 and 8 students are required to be taught all
learning areas and subjects of the Australian Curriculum over a two year
period. In Year 7 and 8 your child will be taught the following subjects:

- Mathematics
- Science
- Humanities
and Social Sciences: Geography, History, Economics and Business and Civics and
Citizenship.

Arts: Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts and Media

As
your child works towards senior schooling, in Year 9 and 10, your child will
have more choice about the subjects they will learn. All Year 9 and 10 students
will be taught the core subjects of:

- History
- Health
- Physical

In Year 9 and 10 there opportunities to study a number of the following electives;
Depending
on the subjects that will complete for Year 11 and 12 your child will have the
opportunity to choose two elective subjects from the learning areas of The
Arts, Technologies or Humanities.
