PublishingPageContent

As a College we welcome your involvement in your child’s education. There are a number of ways in which you can communicate with staff members at the College.

It is extremely important that you also keep your contact details, including your email address, up-to-date to ensure effective facilitation of communication between the College and parents and vice versa.

Parents communicating with the College

Telephone

If you wish to speak with a member of the leadership team or an administration staff member please call the College on (07) 4085 5333 and ask for the person you wish to speak with. Both campus administration offices are staffed and will direct your call where necessary.

Email

Staff email addresses have been published on our website under the Our staff section. If you are uncertain as to who you need to email please call the school and they will support you with your inquiry.

Face-to-face meetings

If you wish to meet with your child’s teacher, a member of the leadership team or any other staff member please contact the school to make an appointment. Although we will endeavour to meet with you as soon as possible, please be advised, it may not always be possible to meet with you on the same day as your request.

The College or staff communication with parents or carers

College staff will utilise a number of communication strategies to ensure effective communication to parents or carers.

Parent-teacher (student progress) meetings

At the College we provide you two opportunities a year for you to meet with your child’s teacher or teachers to discuss their academic progress. These meetings are generally held in early term 2 and early term 4. Bookings are made via our online booking system that is communicated to parents at least a week before the scheduled meetings.

Telephone

A staff member will call you for one of two reasons:

  1. They need to contact you urgently due to a medical or behavioural issue.
  2. Provide you information, seek verbal permission or update you on your child’s progress.

Email

We are using email addresses more frequently to disseminate information to parents. Email addresses are also sometimes used to contact you if we have not been able to contact you via your contact number.

Social Media (Facebook)

Kuranda District State College has its own Facebook page where we share all the great things that are happening at the College. Our Facebook page is also used to distribute whole-College or campus specific information to parents and carers but also the wider community. Have you liked our page?
