The P&C is committed to assisting the college to meet the needs, expectations and challenges of the college community and to ensuring that our children benefit from the college’s unique rich natural and cultural heritage.
Membership of the Kuranda District State College Parents and Citizens association (P&C) is open to all parents, carers and interested community members. The P&C works closely with the college administration and staff to build a stronger school community where all students benefit.
P&C meetings are held at 6:00pm in the Senior school staff room. Minutes from P&C meetings can be requested from the secretary at the P&C email address below or copies can be collected from the office.
Check out the next P&C meeting dates and consider coming along.
We encourage all members of the KDSC community to join the P&C. A strong active P&C is able to more effectively support our students’ education experiences and helps to build closer links between the college and the local community. Complete a P&C membership form (PDF, 98KB) and return it to the college office. Membership is free.
The P&C manages the ordering and sale of uniforms. Uniforms are sold through the P&C uniform ‘shop’ on the junior campus. P&C volunteers open the shop once per week (currently Monday mornings 8.30 am - 9.00 am).
Junior uniform order forms and middle/senior uniform order forms can be completed and left at the college office at any time. Orders will be completed on Mondays and left at the office for collection. Payment is by cash only as there are no EFTPOS facilities.
The P&C requests that families of children in years P–6 make a voluntary financial contribution (PDF, 244 KB) each year to the P&C. These funds are used by the college to purchase additional classroom resources (such as art materials) to enhance learning opportunities for our children.
P&C is also involved in other activities:
Fundraising for additional equipment and resources (through projects eg. Kuranda community phonebook).
Seeking external grants for major projects (eg. playgrounds and equipment)
Supporting social and community events (eg. junior discos and family bush dance)
Supporting school policies (i.e. uniform, sun safe and behaviour policies)
Strengthening links between college and the community (eg. volunteer program).
